How does roulette work?
The game of roulette is made up of a spinning disk, which is in turn divided into 37 or 38 numbered sectors. The sectors are all colored in red and black, with the exception of the zero which can be green or white. Before spinning the puck, players must bet on a possible outcome.
When the roulette wheel is triggered and the disc starts spinning, the croupier throws a ball in the opposite direction and the sector on which the ball lands will be the winning one. The players who bet on that color or number will have won.
Types of roulette
There is not just one type of roulette, but three:
French Roulette: the wheel and table numbers are 37 and range from 0 to 36.
American Roulette: has 38 sectors, numbered from 0 to 36 with the addition, on the disc, of the double zero, which is in a position opposite to zero.
English Roulette: It is similar to French Roulette with some game table differences.
What do you need to play roulette?
Roulette is a game of unchanging charm, it is based on the laws of chance and plays exactly the same way it was played 300 years ago.
Is it possible to predict the position in which the ball will land? To intuit the behavior of the ball, a goal that many have tried to pursue: even Einstein tried to formulate a law that made the movement of the ball predictable.
But roulette is a game whose outcome cannot be predicted, the ball does not memorize the previous results and, with each spin, there is the same probability that one result will occur instead of another.
The cast of odds in the game
Red / Black: the probability that red or black comes out can be found by dividing 18 (number of cells in one of the two colors) by 37 (total of cells including zero). The result is 0.48, or 48%.
Column: first, second and third column, or the three combinations at the bottom of the green table that refer to the 12 vertical numbers (not consecutive) included in the three columns in which all the roulette numbers are grouped. By betting on the column you win if any of the numbers included in the column are thrown. The calculation of the probabilities is as follows> 12/37 = 0.3243 = 32.43%.
Street bet: consists of betting on the line of the game table containing three consecutive numbers. In this case, the calculation is as follows> 3/37 = 0.081 = 8.1% chance that the triplet you bet on will go out.
Sestina: for sestina it means the bet that covers six consecutive numbers adjacent to each other. The chances of success for a sixth are> 6/37 = 0.1621 = 16.21%.
Quatrain: the bet is placed on a square of 4 adjacent numbers in contact with each other. The odds of taking this bet are> 4/37 = 0.1081 = 10.81%.
Split: This is a single chip to be wagered on two vertically or horizontally adjacent numbers, but not oblique. Each number can be matched with one of the numbers above, below or to the side of it. The odds of this bet are> 2/37 = 0.054 = 5.4%.
Full number: the chip is placed on a single number, which has a 1 in 37 chance of getting out, therefore with a probability of 2.70%.
